2012	GMSL was the key partner of the 'Sri Lankan Working Group on Rio+20' the people's campaign oriented towards the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
2010	The movement expanded the penetration of its development paradigm to the newly free areas in the north and east as a priority action aimed at mainstreaming victims of conflict, engineer cross-ethnic harmony and launch Sri Lankan civil society into the next decade with adequate weaponry to combat the food, energy, climate and financial crises.
2009	The movement formulated a cross-sector strategy to engineer a paradigm shift from individualism to collectivism as citizens of the country and from black to green technologies as social economic entities and gains the full support of the government, private, civil, academic and media sectors in implementing the same.
2008	The movement formally expanded its activities into every aspect of sustainable development and is recognized across sectors as the leading voice in environment regenerative life-systems.
2007	The GMSL restructured itself as an environment organization that was recognized by the government as an incorporated charity.
	The GMSL launched a five year plan to address the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in earnest.
2006	Post-tsunami work winds down, and the GMSL geared itself to work towards a more fruitful era for the marginalized communities of the country.
2005	Community recovery, reconstruction and rehabilitation in the post-tsunami era began with four housing schemes by the GMSL in various tsunami-affected areas of the country.
2004	The tsunamis devastate the coastal area and the GMSL's DMIP and Green Brigade spring into action for emergency response.
2002	GMSL played the leading role of the 'Green Network' the people's campaign oriented towards the World Summit for the Sustainable Development, held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
1998	Green Movement of Sri Lanka was established.
