Wildlife Range Office of the Department of Wildlife Conservation at Mannar, which was constructed under the Vankalai Project implemented by the Green Movement of Sri Lanka, was recently opened. The building is constructed using a used container, making it an environmental friendly construction.
	The office, situated midway between Talladi and Mannar town, will facilitate conservation and law enforcement action of the area. There are few protected areas under the purview of the department within the district and Vankalai Sanctuary, which is also a Ramsar Site (Wetland of International Importance) is one of those.
